BELFAST ASIAN
WOMEN'S ACADEMY
Centre of Inspiration
& Empowerment
Belfast Asian Women’s Academy (BAWA) is a charitable company established in January 2019 by its founder Ana Chandran.
Ana’s search to find a platform and support network specifically for professional Asian women women establishing a life in NI didn’t exist thus BAWA was formed. Bawa is a fast paced unit empowering and inspiring women. A non-denominational grassroots organisation focusing on promoting unity, respect and diversity. BAWA delivers a range of innovative social and recreational programmes.
BAWA also runs community led workshops for the benefit of all. Addressing and tackling societal issues in liaison with other charities to tackle poverty, homelessness and other pressure facing communities.
In 2022 the former Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tina Black selected BAWA as one of her charities during her term in office
